EDUCATION:
A POWERFUL GIFT

Students: Bruna Oliveira and Angelina Percuoco

Our project “Education: A Power gift” is split up into two parts, awareness and action. As students at Hudson High School we understand that we are privileged to have access to education. We wanted to teach our fellow students about people who weren’t as fortunate as us and had to fight for their education. Those people include: Babar Ali of India, Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan, and Wadi Ben-Hirki of Nigeria. After researching their stories, we came to the conclusion that education should be a right, not a privilege. Additionally, we wanted to help our community so we partnered with The School on Wheels, a local organization that provides school supplies to students battling homelessness. We held a supply drive at our school, allowing students from all grade levels to donate school supplies. We were ultimately able to collect 175 materials to donate to The School on Wheels. To include our donations, we asked the students of our school to write “notes of inspirations” that will help to make the children's days better. In broadening our knowledge around the struggles of education, we were able to enlighten our school and give back to the community.
